We have truly been encouraged by the tremendous feedback we received from the last Ami Update. Your congratulations, the Bible verses, personal words, and every uplifting thought that has surrounded Ami and our family has touched our hearts. Thank you for walking with us and being part of the victory that God has given us and the Body of Messiah in Israel, which will help us to continue to convey the message that Yeshua is the Messiah.

We have had so many responses we aren't able to answer each one personally, but we want to thank you for your continued prayer and interest in Ami's progress, our family, the court case and the wellbeing of the Body of Messiah in Israel.

Today we were able to put English subtitles on an interview I had on Channel 10 Israel TV after the verdict- you can see it on the home page of www.amiortiz.com and also a powerful CBN report by Chris Mitchell and Julie Stahl, also on the home page.

RON NACHMAN

Sadly, Ron Nachman who was the Mayor of Ariel since 1985, passed away cancer on January 18th. He had battled the disease since 2009. It is a very big blow to all of us who live in Ariel as Ron Nachman was literally the face of Ariel. He was one of the leaders of the original group that settled the City in 1978-79 and served as its mayor until his death. We were speaking to a man yesterday who was a friend of Nachman, and he said that even on his death bed he was calling Knesset members to make sure they would make good on their promises for the City because he knew he was losing ground quickly. He was an aggressive and typical Israeli, but a very straight and honest person. What you saw was what you got and we appreciated that aspect of his character. Many people don't know that we used to pray in his office once a week for 4 years until the Orthodox community started putting pressure on him to stop the meeting. But once again, he was very honest and told us that the Orthodox are very powerful and if he didn't stop the prayer meetings from taking place, they would make trouble for him and he was afraid that he would lose the next election for mayor. But he was the embodiment of Ariel, to both his friends and his enemies.

After the bombing, Ron Nachman was the only one from the government with enough backbone to visit us in the hospital and to convey his shock over the incident and concern for Ami and our family. No one from the Knesset made a public condemnation, visited or called.

Please lift up his family in prayer, that they would turn to the Lord for strength at this time, and that the right person would step into the leadership of this strategic city, Ariel, the Capital of Samaria.

With much appreciation in the Messiah,

Leah
