LEAH'S UPDATES

June 24, 2016

First of all, we are all well, praise the Lord, God has been very good to our family. Ami is 23 and this past May he graduated from college in the U.S. He was going to a school in Florida, and it was very challenging for him to study on a college level in English. His major is Psychology. Even though he was on the basketball team he never actually played in the games very much, I think his injuries really did affect his game when it came to the level that sports are played in the U.S., but he was required…Read more

In late 2014 we had the privilege to be invited to visit Yakov Damkani's studio in Tel Aviv and to be interviewed for his Trumpets of Salvation Satellite TV program. It has been seven years since the incident that changed all our lives forever, and our outlooks have not changed, but rather deepened as we have walked through the many doors that have been opened and the opportunities to glorify the name of Yeshua that have resulted through this tragedy, not only for Ami but our whole family. Despite all the…Read more

Shalom to all! It has been a long time since we communicated, but we just wanted to let you know that all is well. Ami is doing well in school, but is trying to transfer to another college. When he contacted coaches in many different schools, a coach in a college in Florida expressed interest in him. He went to see the school over Spring Break, liked it and is applying.

As soon as the basketball season was over this past semester in the school where he is currently, (which was a rather disappointing season)…Read more

I just returned from the US in time for the beginning of the Jewish Holy Days. These are indeed holy days in the yearly cycle of life in Israel; the time of celebrating the Fall Feasts of Trumpets (now called Rosh HaShanna or the jewish New Year), the Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur) and Tabernacles (Sukkot). The 10 days between Rosh HaShanna and Yom Kippur are referred to in Judaism as the "Days of Awe". Jewish people around the world go to synagogue after sundown at the beginning of Yom Kippur to hear and… Read more

We are nearing the end of our summer with Ami at home, and it has not been an easy one as you all know.

BEHIND THE SCENES

Behind the scenes when David was going through his operations and emergency, Ami was very ill as well. In Israel this summer many people fell prey to some extremely virulent stomach flu/viruses that even put them in the hospital, and the night before David's second emergency operation, Ami began vomiting and having diarrhea non stop for 9 hours. I had fallen asleep and was awakened at… Read more

Backtracking a little bit, I wanted to add something about the brother that recently passed away from colon cancer. Besides having to forgive his ex-wife, the other battle which he said was so important was the need to forgive his father, even though he had already passed away. He said the Lord asked him, "when in your mind and heart are you going to be ready to bury your father? You can't leave the world without that". He knew it meant he had to forgive and put the enmity to rest. Secondly, which might be… Read more

Shalom, may the peace and presence of the Lord be with you today!

First of all, we want to thank  those who wrote to the Ministry of Defense on Ami's behalf concerning the National Insurance issue, it is bearing fruit. We have had responses from officials who are supporting our request to make an amendment to the law to categorize incidents of Jewish terrorism against Jews as a hate crime, thereby making the victims eligible for compensation. We also want to thank those who responded to the needs for Ami's… Read more

Request for Intervention and Prayer

We are horrified and shaken by the Boston Marathon bomb blasts that have killed and maimed so many. Our prayers are lifted up for the victims, with whom we can identify closely with. This is a terror attack not only against Americans but against humanity, and the values that are the foundations of our society.

WE ARE GRATEFUL

for the responses to our update concerning the sentencing of Jack Teitel to 80 years in prison. However, as you know, we have written that… Read more

On April 9, 2013 the sentencing of Jack Teitel took place. He was sentenced to 80 years in prison which included 2 life sentences equal to 50 years imprisonment, plus 30 years for his other crimes including the attempted murder of Ami Ortiz. Teitel is 40 years old.

When Jack Teitel was brought into the courtroom, a large group of reporters swarmed in after him to where he was seated and crowded around him. They were allowed to photograph and ask him questions before the judges made their entrance. They… Read more

Happy Passover to all! The holiday of deliverance and freedom is upon us once more, a time to celebrate our deliverance from the tyranny and slavery of sin by the Blood of the Lamb of God, Yeshua!

On March 17th 2013 the sentencing hearing of Jack Teitel was supposed to take place at 12 PM at the District Courthouse in East Jerusalem. David and I left Ariel early to meet with some friends in Jerusalem before the hearing, and as we neared the city our lawyer texted us to say that at that moment he had… Read more
