Ami came out of the ear operation well, and was released from the hospital this morning.

THE OPERATION

We arrived at the hospital at 7:30 AM on Wednesday, were the first ones in line to get checked in, but Ami was the last one to be operated on- finally at 11:30 AM.  All that time he was forbidden to eat or drink, and so it was a little hard. The surgery took two hours - longer than expected.  Ami was awake to semi-awake during the whole thing, as he was given something to calm him down, which made him sleepy.  He said that at the beginning of the operation he was sleeping, and then heard something like a drill being applied to his ear which woke him up with a start.

Afterwards, Dr. Shapira, the senior  surgeon who operated on Ami, came out to speak to us.  He said that it wasn't an easy or simple operation, the hole was big, the ear drum was mostly gone, but he said at the end it went well (breakthrough).  He said, can you tell me in 3 or 4 sentences what happened to your son?  We shared the story with him, and his mouth dropped.  When he understood that it was Jewish against Jewish, he simply couldn't comprehend the violence he saw demonstrated on Ami's body.  We gave him a CD of the Uvda story.

Ami was admitted into the hospital for one night.  We were instructed this morning as Ami was being released,  that the operation was a very delicate one.  A little piece of muscle was taken from above his ear (he has stitches there), and placed where the ear drum was. It is a flap that needs to heal and it takes at least 6 weeks - sometimes longer.  Can we pray for speedy healing of the grafted ear drum?
In the meantime, Ami can't play sports, lift anything heavy - travel to a different elevation (Jerusalem or Dead Sea), fly in a plane, or even sneeze with his mouth closed.  Anything that causes pressure in his ear can cause the flap to come loose, and ruin the whole operation. He can't allow the inside of the ear to get wet, because infection is always a concern.  He has a bandage inside, and it will come out after 3 weeks.  Then we'll see how well successful the operation has been, and he will get a hearing test.

The final check up this morning was when the surgeon came into our room with a tuning fork.  He activated it, and held it to Ami's teeth!  He asked him, do you hear this better in your right or left ear?  Ami said - "in the right ear".  That was all they wanted to hear - and we were sent home with a follow-up appointment in 3 weeks.

OUR ROCK IN TIME OF TROUBLE

Ami is feeling like he was beat up on the right side of his head, he feels pressure, and when he walks he feels pounding in his head, so he will be resting at home for a while.

Thank you for continuing to pray -I am noticing that there is a big attack on believers in these last days, especially mentally and emotionally.  We need to depend on Yeshua to be our rock more and more in these unstable and confusing days.

PSALM 27:5
5

For in the time of trouble
He shall hide me in His pavilion; In the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock.

That is - high above my troubles, enemies, and every confusion in my life.

With much love and appreciation in the Messiah,

Leah
