Our days and nights are packed with activity as we approach the second Purim since the incident. Last night our story aired on an Israeli TV program called “Uvda” or “Fact”. It is something like the American 60 minutes, and tells the stories of regular Israeli’s and their life situations. We’d been working on this with them since October, and finally it was aired. They did such an amazing job, they portrayed Ami so sensitively, and showed his heroism. They showed who we were as believers, and the dilemma that we face in living with the criminals still not caught. It showed that we are not angry, and have no desire for revenge. It also portrayed a Christian Danish group of lovers of Israel that David was showing around the area. (That part is in English). A person from an anti-missionary group was also interviewed, and he was seen as being unreasonable in his opposition to us, actually saying that our activities are so horrible that we deserved what happened to us.

Even if you don’t understand or speak Hebrew, and you want to see the pictures of our family and Ami also playing Basketball - you can log on to the website at:

We are God willing going to try to get it translated and posted on YouTube. If you want to write a comment in English or your language to Channel 2 which is the station which aired the program, the email address is: uvda@keshet-tv.com

We have been receiving telephone calls from all over Israel from Israelis who are not believers, but who were touched, saddened, and even angered that this happened to us. They all send messages of respect, support, love, hugs and kisses to all of us but especially to Ami. They expressed amazement that he isn’t angry. One man said that he couldn’t stop crying. Some have expressed interest in the faith, like one woman who also suffers from MS. We had a long talk about many things, and she asked if she could call me from time to time.
Ami got a hero’s welcome in school today, and he was very happy.

HAND UPDATE

We went to the hand surgeon this week for another check up on Ami’s progress. The doctor was impressed with the strength and dexterity he has, but said there is still much lacking. Most of the healing takes place within the first year, and so we have to do another EMG to see if healing is still taking place, or has stopped, and then we will have a meeting with the whole staff of hand specialists in two weeks to see where we will go from here. I thank the Lord for the favor of these doctors, that they would call a meeting just for Ami. They are busy, big name doctors, and yet they are very concerned about Ami and want to help him.

One possibility of an operation would be to transplant a tendon from his wrist to the right pinky, as the tendon seems to have been severed and he can’t straighten out the finger. The doctor said that in order to go forward with that operation, Ami would go a bit backwards initially in his recovery. He said the operation wouldn’t be difficult, but he’d have to have a cast for 3 weeks, and then have therapy until the brain learned to work that tendon again. Ami’s not sure he wants to do that. The doctor said something interesting - at the end of the check up, he said, “Ami, what do you want”. Ami said that he wanted strength back in his left hand, and to be able to use it normally. His left thumb and some fingers still can’t do everything normally.

David and I thought that was a very important question, and one that the Lord often asks us in our relationship to Him. What do we really want from Him? What do we want to see Him do in our lives and the lives of our families? When Yeshua said, “Ask and it will be given, seek and you will find, knock and it will be opened to you” (Matthew 7:7), He’s telling us that the initiative is ours. He’s saying - “What do you want of Me?” What a privilege that the God of the Universe cares about what we want!!

After the appointment, Ami was discouraged. Doctor’s can be very pessimistic, and Ami felt that maybe the healing is over and this is what there is. He just got back from taking an EMG, and it shows that there has been no improvement since September. Can we press in and pray for total restoration of both hands? Can we believe the Lord for continued miracles in our young man’s life, body, heart, mind and soul? I see that the process is actually getting harder for him, as time seems to drag on, and after a whole year, he still isn’t complete. Ami feels time slipping away, and recovery keeps on stretching out before him.

Thank you for praying, and continuing to be a support and strength to our family. This Purim we will be going away with Ami, our daughter, son-in-law and grandson. Please pray for traveling mercies and for safety for the whole Body of Messiah at this time.

In Yeshua’s Love,
Leah
