So much has happened within a few days! First of all, our daughter gave birth to her second baby boy Sunday morning at 3AM. David, Ami, Tzook ( my oldest son) and I were able to be at the hospital, and I was in the room when my daughter went through the last hour of labor and gave birth. What joy! What a miracle! We thank the Lord for a safe delivery and for the joy of new life. The baby weighs 7 lbs. 7 oz. or 3.5 kilograms. His name will be announced at the time of his circumcision, which is a beautiful Jewish custom in Israel that dates back thousands of years.

Luke 1:59-61

59 On the eighth day they came to circumcise the child, and they were going to name him after his father Zechariah, 60but his mother spoke up and said, "No! He is to be called John."

COURT HEARING

We went home to sleep for two hours, then got up and went to Jerusalem for the trial. In the natural the timing might have seemed not good; the birth, no sleep and then the hearing, but it was actually very good, as in light of the blessing of the birth of our new grandson, the hearing seemed somehow less important than it usually does to us.

I am attaching an article from the Israeli news which speaks for itself as to what went on this morning in court -

Teitel calls court 'a whorehouse'

'Jewish terrorist' declares court not authorized to try him, says accepts Torah judgment only. Medical opinions differ on his fitness to stand trial
Aviad Glickman

Yaakov (Jack) Teitel disrupted Jerusalem District Court on Sunday when he stood up suddenly and told the judges in English that he opposes "this whorehouse" which he said had no legitimacy to try him. Teitel is accused of various acts over a period of many years which have earned him the title of "Jewish terrorist."

Teitel told the judges he accepts the Torah judgment alone, reiterated that the court was not authorized to try him, and said "God is king."

Last November an indictment was submitted against him, including 14 paragraphs detailing 12 years of terror. According to the allegations against him, in 1997 he murdered taxi driver Samir Akram Balbisi in Jerusalem, and shepherd Issa Jabrin near Susya. He then returned to his country of birth, the United States, before coming back to Israel where he tried to harm police officers and Palestinians a number of times.
According to the indictment, he also placed an explosive device in the house of Prof. Ze'ev Sternhell who was lightly wounded, and sent a booby-trapped gift to a family of Messianic Jews in Ariel, seriously wounding their teenage son Ami Ortiz.

The court debate centered round contradictory medical opinions regarding Teitel. One asserted he was not fit to stand trial, while another said he was fit to stand trial and responsible for his actions. During the debate, Teitel's attorneys Michael Ironi and Asher Ohayon requested the raw material on which the medical opinions were based so they could fully understand the second opinion.

Representative of the State Prosecution Sagi Ofir agreed to the request, and the court ruled that the two sides would submit a joint injunction permitting the psychiatrists to submit the raw material.

Ohayon also said Teitel would not agree to cooperate with the court. "The most he is willing to do, after much effort, is to be passive," Ohayon said, referring to "higher" orders which would not permit Teitel to do more than this.

Our lawyer said that we need to understand that the due process of law is going well, and that the issue of insanity has to be resolved so that if the trial will go forward, Teitel's lawyers can't claim insanity later on. He said that if he is deemed responsible for his actions over the last 12 years, and deemed mentally fit to stand trial, it will go on for a couple of years, and we have to learn to not let ourselves be overcome concerning the court's process. He said it is a very slow process in all cases, with objections and appeals, and long waits between hearings. Words of wisdom.

December 2nd will be very dramatic, and will determine whether Teitel will stand trial at this present time, or ever. We can only depend on the true judgement of the True Judge in heaven. Meanwhile, our prayer for Teitel has intensified, and when we pray for him, I feel faith in my spirit, that the Lord is going to touch this man. It might take time, but I believe it will happen.

Matthew 5:43-45 (Love for Enemies)

43"You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' 44But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.

NBA!

Three days ago, we received a call from Caleb Myers' office (Jerusalem Institute of Justice) that Bill Axelson was back in Israel with NBA players who came to support and bless Israel. Bill had visited us about a year and a half ago. He is an ex-basketball player, and was the chaplain for the Boston Celtics for 15 years. Most of the players who came on the trip are believers, and are past and present players. The trip was funded by AIPAC which is the largest Jewish pro-Israel Lobby in America.

Bill had lost our number and wanted us to get in touch with him, which we did. He said they were playing a friendly game that night in Herziliya, a city on the Mediterranean coast, against a local professional team. He told us to come if we could, and when we showed up, he was so pleased to see Ami. He told Ami to sit on the bench with the players, which was a great honor, and then he invited us to have dinner with them after the game! For those of you who know basketball, the other coach on the trip was Dwight Howard, Sr., father of Dwight "Superman" Howard who plays for Orlando Magic. Dwight Howard Sr. is a strong believer in Yeshua, and we had a great time talking with him. We also had the opportunity to share our testimony with the players at dinner. It was an amazing experience, and Ami was in heaven!

This is an excerpt from an article about the NBA visit -

On Wednesday, September 1, 2010, Chris Wallace presented the President of Israel Shimon Peres with a personalized Grizzlies jersey at the 87-year-old's residence in Jerusalem. Wallace was also joined by former NBA players Jerome Williams, David Wood, Allan Houston and Dwight Howard Sr., as well as Sacramento Kings forward and Israeli National Team member Omri Casspi.

The trip was planned by American pro-Israel lobby AIPAC, with the purpose of strengthening American-Israeli relations by introducing leading figures in American sports to Israel and its unique challenges.

It's amazing what the Lord did within just a few days. Thank you for your prayers, and for standing with us and Israel in these last days.

In Yeshua,

Leah
