December 6, 2009

We found out today that the next court hearing in the Yakov Teitel case will take place on Wednesday, December 9, 2009. It will be his defense's response to the indictments, and David and I will have to be in court with our lawyer in order to invoke our victim's right of appeal if necessary. Please pray for us as we face the person for the first time who caused such suffering to Ami and our family . Thank you for being there to pray for us, as the thought of seeing Teitel is difficult, but we know it is necessary. We told Ami that we will let him know every time we'll be going to court, and the decision will be up to him whether he comes or not.

PERSECUTION IN BEIT SHE'AN

We are burdened today for a family of Jewish believers in Beit Sha'en which is located in the northern Jordan valley. Please pray for this familY. Below is an article written by Calev Myers of the Jerusalem Institute for Justice -

Persecution in Beit She'an Continues

Eliav Levine, leader of a small Messianic Jewish home-group in Beit She'an , Israel, and his family have been suffering recently from serious persecution. For the past six months there has been an escalation of harassment against them from the ultra-orthodox Jewish community in this ancient town.

We reported in our May 6 newsletter about the Levine's daughter Rivka* being interrogated by ultra-orthodox extremists, and their Volkswagen van subsequently being torched. Since our last update, the Levine family has been forced to vacate two apartments due to threats made against their landlords. The persecution has radically accelerated over the past week, following ultra-orthodox activists driving through the streets with loudspeakers calling to "kick the 'evil missionaries' of the town".

Another vehicle belonging to the Levine family was torched on December 1 in the middle of the night. The car was parked in a parking space facing the local police station and the police security cameras recorded the perpetrators, who were caught within a few hours. Recently, other congregational members have been threatened with violence and pressure is being placed upon landlords in Beth She'an to terminate contracts with their Messianic tenants, to remove them from their apartments.

The Jerusalem Institute of Justice has called upon David Cohen, the Chief of Police in Israel, to immediately investigate the perpetrators of incitement and violence against the small Messianic Jewish community in Beit She'an, before the problem deteriorates to violence against people, as we have seen in other cases, such as the Ortiz case.

The Levine family currently needs to purchase another vehicle. Please contact us if you would like to know how you can send financial support to the Levine family.

Please keep this family and all the believers in Beit She'an in prayer, for protection and for boldness. They have determined that they will not leave their homes, and are standing for the truth where they are. Please pray that the rest of the Body in Israel will stand with the believers in Beit She'an, and that we will be willing to do whatever is needed to support them.

We want to direct you to another website of a very special ministry which is dear to our hearts - hope4israel.com

Moran Rosenblit is a Sabra who has accepted Yeshua as his Messiah. He has a fruitful ministry reaching out to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. (Matthew 10:5-7) He and his wife Melissa have stood closely by our sides throughout our ordeal, and they are two of the most practical people I have ever met in my life! A gifted writer who works with them in the ministry, Tamar Afriat, recently interviewed Ami, David and myself, and the article can be found at:

FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS

Blessings to all as we come to the Hanukkah season, the Festival of Lights. Yeshua is the Light of the World!

John 10:21-23

22 Then came the Feast of Dedication (That is, Hanukkah) at Jerusalem. It was winter, 23 and Jesus was in the temple area walking in Solomon's Colonnade.

John 8:12

When Yeshua spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

In Yeshua,

Leah
