Psalm 89:5-7
5 And the heavens will praise Your wonders, O LORD; Your faithfulness also in the assembly of the saints. 6 For who in the heavens can be compared to the LORD? Who among the sons of the mighty can be likened to the LORD? 7 God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, And to be held in reverence by all those around Him.
We had our appointment with the plastic surgeons today, and with the burn specialist - and..........
AMI DOESN'T HAVE TO WEAR HIS PRESSURE SUIT ANYMORE!!! He doesn't have to wear the top, bottom or sock! The scars are no longer active, and he is FREE!!!
The specialist came into the room with two plastic surgeons, took one look at Ami, and declared "He doesn't need the suit anymore, he's finished". David, Ami and I were all in shock - we said, not even the top part? "No". Not even the sock? "No". Does he have to put the lotions on? "No". "Congratulations!" they said. We just stood there looking at them. "Next", they said. We walked out rejoicing, but really in a daze. Ami said to me - "now you have something to write in your update"! We always have something to write, every week, sometimes several times in one week, because the miracles keep on happening, and the LORD God of Israel is mighty in the midst of his people.
Looking back....
Ami started wearing the pressure suit in June 2008. We were told that he would need to wear it for 1 ½ - 2 years. Eleven months later - he no longer needs the suit! That is the healing power of Yeshua, in response to prayer coming up to his throne from the four corners of the earth.
All we can say is HALLELUYAH! There is nothing too hard for our God.
And of course - THANK YOU for praying and being faithful.
This rolls a huge load off of us, as far as normal living is concerned. Ami had two sets of the suit, and he only took it off to take a shower. After the shower, he would have to put lotions on all of his scars, then we had to place silicone sheets on the skin grafts, and then we would put on the suit - and it was hard work! Ami dreamed of the day that he could come back from his basketball game, take a shower and just fall into bed to sleep. Thank you Yeshua; the desires of his heart are fulfilled. And the Lord loves to give us the desires of our hearts, in the same way that we love to bless our children with good things.
So, after Ami would remove the suit, I would have to wash it by hand, including the silicone sheets - and this would all happen usually at 11:30 at night by the time we would get around to the whole process after our very busy days. Even traveling will be so much easier, as we won't have to bring all the equipment along. We are so blessed and full of thanksgiving.
I looked back to some earlier updates. Just 9 months ago - July 15th I wrote this:
"I've noticed that Ami copes better emotionally when he's at the hospital than he does at home. Physically he is stronger and so is doing better in that way at home, but when he's home he goes out with his friends, walking around town, sitting down and talking with people, and the next day he is very depressed. He says he should be going out with friends, playing basketball, but instead he's going back to the hospital. He's seeing what he's lost, and it's huge. He's looking at his left foot, which looks mangled, and is shorter than the right now because of the first 3 toes which are partially amputated, at the skin grafts, which look appalling, at the many bulging scars, at his fingers that don't work well, at the left arm which hangs almost lifeless - it's daunting for a 15 year old. He has a pressure suit for the burns and all the scars which goes from the top of his neck to the bottom of his foot on the left side, and down to his mid-calf on the right, and now he has to put silicon pieces under the pressure suit to further soften and lighten the scars. He wears a brace on his right hand at night to lengthen the tendons, and a small brace on his left hand during the day to straighten out the clawing effect in his hand - He doesn't hear well, he still has much shrapnel in his eyes which doctors are hoping won't come out, and he's in constant pain. It's easy for a 15 year old to feel he's lost more than he could ever regain."
We have come so far in such a short but intense time. You have allowed your hearts to be moved by our trial, and you have loved us and prayed for us. I tell everyone about all of you, when they marvel at the miracle they see in Ami, standing before their eyes. We have labored together in prayer, and we have seen much victory. Getting to know so many of you via email and some personally, has been the experience of a life time, and the power of prayer has been a testimony to our family, to my Jewish family, and to everyone who has had any contact at all with Ami.
Urgent prayer request
Pressing prayer is needed for something else that is time sensitive. We need to raise money to further the investigation which is not happening by the police. We wanted to raise a large sum of money, but because of the financial crisis in the world, it is very difficult to to raise money at this time. To begin the work that needs to be done, we are hoping to raise 1/10th of that amount. On www.amiortiz.com, there is a page called "fundraiser". We didn't create the website, but the Body here in Israel is behind this project and is trying to help, because to apprehend the criminals that perpetrated this act of violence and attempted murder against our family will insure that they will not be able to do it to anyone else. Please pray for a miracle for this.
